Emphasising their commitment to community wellbeing, McKern Foundation has recently expanded their Fresh Fruit Friday program. Now, the program extends its reach to the Bendigo Health Emergency Department with a weekly fruit delivery for the staff every Wednesday.

The initiative aligns with the Foundation’s dedication to supporting local organisations and fostering a healthier community. The decision to include Bendigo Health Emergency Department in their fruit delivery program is a testament to McKern Foundation’s understanding of the crucial role nutrition plays in overall wellbeing, especially for those working in high-stress environments.

“We are excited about the program expansion and want to acknowledge the support from our Foundation partners who contribute financially to help make the fresh fruit program stronger and stronger.” Said Michael McKern.

“We are incredibly grateful of the long-term support Michael and the McKern Foundation have provided to Bendigo Health. Our collaboration developed during the establishment of the new hospital building, when a generous contribution from McKern Foundation enabled Bendigo Health to establish a playground adjacent to the Children’s Ward,” said Rachel Mason, Director of Fundraising & Foundation at Bendigo Health.

“More recently Michael, Chloe and the team have provided corporate sponsorship and active participation in the Move for Mental Health fitness challenge. We genuinely appreciate their involvement.

“Through their commitment to our regional hospital, we have also thankfully recently re-commenced a fresh fruit program, which directly benefits staff within our emergency department. This initiative began in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and we are pleased to continue offering this kind gesture to our busy staff through the generosity of the McKern Foundation.”

Through the McKern Foundation, companies who value the importance of corporate social responsibility can actively engage in initiatives that contribute positively to the communities they operate in. As health and wellbeing become increasingly important, McKern Foundation is a shining example of how businesses can use their resources to create a ripple effect of positivity within their communities.
